It was the summer before my senior year in high school, and I decided to spend it at an English language immersion program in the United Kingdom. Arrival in London

As soon as I arrived in London, I was hit with a wave of culture shock. This was the first time I had ever been to Europe, and I was amazed at how different everything was. The buildings, the food, the accents, everything was so foreign and exciting. I was paired with a host family who would be my home for the next six weeks, and they welcomed me with open arms. The Program

The program was full of students from all over the world, so I had to communicate in English constantly. At first, I struggled with understanding the different accents and slang, but as time passed, I was able to adapt and improve my listening skills. The teachers were amazing, and they made the classes fun and interactive. They taught us not only the language but also about British culture and history, which allowed us to better understand the country and its people.

An Eye-Opening Experience

This summer was not only about improving my English skills but also about self-discovery. Being away from home, family, and friends allowed me to reflect on myself and my goals for the future.
